International colloquium “Eloquence of Marble in Antiquity”

We would like to invite you to participate in the international colloquium “Eloquence of Marble in Antiquity” that invites leading scholars and emerging researchers to explore the complex role of marble and other stones in Antiquity. This colloquium will provide a platform to discuss recent developments in archaeometric approaches to the provenance of white marble and other stones, trade routes, networks and exchanges between the eastern and western parts of the ancient world, and last but not least, sculptural forms and the reuse of marble artefacts in Late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages.

The colloquium will be held on Friday 3 October 2025 at the Charles University in Prague. You can find the complete program here.
